Brian has served in a leadership capacity for Young Parents Network for the last 13 years. He has been a part of several local organizations such as Gems of Hope Board of Directors, Linn County Non-profit Resource Center Board of Directors, and numerous other non-profits both large and small in administrative and direct service capacities. Brian is married to his wife, Renee, and they have four children together.

Kathy has been a part of YPN since 1990, and she has enjoyed working with some of the communities’ best staff, boards of directors and trustees, and donors. She loves the mission of YPN and seeing the positive impact that YPN’s work has on families in Eastern Iowa. Her biggest joy is spending time with her family, her husband Jeff of 34 years, their three great daughters and three grandsons!

After becoming a young mom herself, Kristina attended college and received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing. She became a labor and delivery nurse and enjoyed helping families welcome their babies into the world for 15 years. In 2011, Kristina joined the YPN staff in order to work directly with young moms and their babies. She feels she can really connect with the young parents she works with. Additionally, Kristina graduated from YPN with her first child, Zach, and can speak to the value of YPN’s programming. Kristina is married to her husband, Chad, and together they have three children together – Zach, Zoe and Zada. In her free time, Kristina enjoys photography and gardening!

Jan holds a BS in Sociology and has 15 years experience working with children and families. She has worked at YPN since 2006 as both a parent educator and family support worker. Jan’s favorite part of her job includes working with families. Jan is happily married to her husband, Marvin, of 25 years, and they have raised five children together and now have two grandchildren. Jan enjoys Harley trips with her husband in the summer and watching high school and college wrestling in the winter.

Crystal graduated from Mount Mercy with degrees in English and Criminal Justice and has worked at Young Parents Network since 2002. Crystal is married to her husband Robert and they have two daughters, Josie and Ashlyn. Together they live on their farm with their dog and 9 cats. Crystal really enjoys working with young families and believes that the work YPN does is very important. She believes that YPN truly impacts families and empowers generations. When not at work, Crystal enjoys reading, watching football and baseball, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Steve has been with YPN for since 2002. Steve strongly believes in helping moms and dads have access to parenting resources. His favorite part of his job is working with dads who are actively involved in their children’s lives. Prior to joining YPN, he coordinated a local AmeriCorps program and provided technical support to Cedar Rapids neighborhood associations. Steve is married to his wife, Linda, and they have three children. When not working he enjoys biking, camping, and other family activities. He and his wife also volunteer with their church and their son’s Boy Scout Troop.

Monica is vital to YPN’s work with our Latino families. Serving as an essential liaison to that population, Monica coordinates all of our Hispanic programming. Monica is married with two children and has three grandchildren. When not working, Monica enjoys the company of her family and friends (and she likes to watch reality TV programs). Monica enjoys her job and helping people.

Tisha earned her BS in Education from the University of Kansas in 1998. In 2003, she earned her Master’s degree in College Student Development from Azusa Pacific University. For almost 10 years, she worked for the University of Southern California, first in the School of Engineering and then the Student Affairs Division. Tisha and her husband Mike have two daughters, Peyton and Dylan. In her free time, she enjoys cardio-kickboxing and cheering on her Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals. Tisha joined the YPN team in 2016 and is excited to be part of an innovative nonprofit!

Dana is a graduate of Mount Mercy College. She enjoys being creative, planning, and helping businesses promote their products and services. For 9 years, she worked at The Gazette in Advertising helping schedule and design print and digital ads. She also produced TV promos and events while managing The Gazette Gives Back and KCRG-TV9 Show You Care programs, where she worked with numerous non-profits in the area. She is excited to be with an organization such as YPN. Aside from work, she enjoys spending time with her two teenage daughters, friends and family. They love going to the pool, having BBQ’s, theme parks and watching funny movies.

Kristi attended Young Parents Network as a young mom, and her experience with the program inspired her to obtain a BAS from the University of Iowa in non-profit management. She volunteers for various organizations connected to her church and daughter’s school. Additionally, she enjoys reading, cooking, doing puzzles, and anything that involves her daughter, Allie, fiancé, Alex, or 2 rescue dogs, Salvador and Shelby.

I interned at YPN while studying at Kirkwoods Human Services program and was inspired by the dedication of the program and staff. I felt as though many families benefit from YPN and it was such a great resource to the community. Ever since that I knew this was the team I wanted to be a part of. My husband Bret and I have 2 children of our own: Noah and Skylar. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and cheering on the Chicago Bears
